Family Holiday Sesh with the Landrys

Family sessions are a great way to meet new people, learn a little, and find commonality in someone that was a stranger to you just a mere hour before. The Landrys were a bucket of fun to work with, and I think the photos will show it:)

Now, I'm a big fan of kids, especially when they are at the age where they run around and do stuff because its is interesting to them, and this family has two little girls that stole the show and a little of my heart <3. Such sweet little girls that clearly love their mom and dad dearly:)

Holy hot damn! Boudoir with Mrs Samantha.

I'm finding more and more people don't know what boudoir photography is, so let me enlighten you. A boudoir (/ˈbuːd.wɑːr/; French: [bu.dwaʁ]) is a lady's private bedroom, sitting room or dressing room. The term derives from the French verb bouder, meaning "to be sulky" or boudeur, meaning "sulky". In sum it means to be sulky and sultry in your bedroom, and however that works for you. For some women being sultry is being in their favorite bra and panties, for some it means sexy lingerie, for others it means naked but covered breasts, and for a very few it means full on tasteful nude photos. 

Now that you know what it is let me show you how a boudoir session with me transpires, you arrive at my home with a suitcase of your favorite things. My home, but why not yours? I have amazing light, I can control it with black out curtains, and the afternoon glow my room produces is second to none. We can shoot in a hotel, but I can guarantee the results will not be the same. We will not shoot in your home, ever, unless you live in the Playboy Mansion. Why? You have distractions at your home, your family, laundry, dishes, this whole session is about you and me making images, not dinner.

Regardless, moving on, back to my house, there is no one at my home except you, myself, and my assistant Gee (we will get to her in a few, but shes amazeballs). We have a mimosa, or two, chat about what you have decided you want out of the session, look though your favorite things, possibly do your hair and makeup, and discuss your comfort level. I NEVER shoot a woman that is uncomfortable in her outfit, her surroundings, or uncomfortable for any other reason. We start out just hanging out, we get to know each other, and we start shooting with you in the outfit you arrived in, this gets you comfortable with me, the camera, and the room.

Then once you are comfortable with all things surrounding you its your decision on what to take off, leave on, or change into. Mrs. Sam decided to take off her top and leave on the under tank and the rest of her clothes. She is not even close to naked and this is the result. The idea that you have to be naked to produce sexy photos is not accurate. She is f**king sexy right here, with her tank top and pants on.

Gee, my assistant. She's the business and will likely hang around for random pettings from you and me:). Dogs are a great way to break the ice and bond with another person. If you are allergic to pups she can certainly be put out, but if not shes awesomesauce:)

You don't have to be skinny, curvy, full busted, bootylicious, or have your body in the shape you think you should be in, and to be honest with the crazy superficial society we live in our standards of beauty are completely wrong, and unobtainable. Sam is absofuckinglutely gorgeous here, and she isn't a size 0, shes a real woman just like you, and me. Get over what society thinks is sexy and do this for you, not anyone else, but you. In 40 years you will look back at yourself in your images and thank me. Really, you will.

We will shoot a particular pose a variety of ways, some are better than others. This turned out amazing.

Really, its all about the eyes. Mrs. Sams connection to me and the camera is strong and it shows with this shot.

I use mirrors and reflections a lot, and its good. So good.

Real genuine smiles here ladies, we actually laughed and had lots of fun. You can do this, we can do this.
